Experience

After graduating from law school in 2010, Jessica worked in legal at financial institutions by day and waited tables at night and on weekends. She passed two bar exams (California and Kentucky).

Jessica gave birth to her second baby boy in 2014.  Shortly thereafter, Jessica decided to leave an abusive relationship and divorced in 2015.

Since obtaining her Kentucky law license, Jessica has advocated for and represented victims of domestic violence in family court, while operating a solo family law practice.

She volunteered for the Legal Aid Society of Louisville and handled over one hundred Domestic Violence Order hearing assignments pro bono for which she was awarded Legal Aid Society’s Outstanding Volunteer Attorney in 2015.

In 2017, Jessica was selected and sworn as a Jefferson County Assistant County Attorney in the Criminal Division where she continues to serve today.

While assigned to the Special Victims Unit, she prosecuted child abuse cases and domestic violence cases in criminal court.  Outside of criminal and family law experience, Jessica worked at Cotton Wolfinbarger & Associates representing employees in Worker Compensation actions.

Education

Jessica received her undergraduate degree from the University of Louisville. She earned her Juris Doctor degree from California Western School of Law; received the Academic Achievement Award in Appellate Advocacy, served on the Student Bar Association, and was President of the Sports and Entertainment Law Society.

Jessica interned with the Navy JAG in San Diego and was selected for USMC Officer Candidate School. Jessica’s first pregnancy with her ex-husband halted her military aspirations; however, the birth of her first son allowed Jessica to experience motherhood and prompted her family’s move back to Kentucky.
